All-Russian congresses on theoretical and applied mechanics have been held since 1960 (first once every four years, then once every five years, and now again once every four years). In total, in 1960-1991. seven All-Union congresses on theoretical and applied mechanics were held: in Moscow (1960, 1964, 1968 and 1991), Kiev (1976), Alma-Ata (1981) and Tashkent (1986). In 1972, instead of the next All-Union Congress, the XIII International Congress on Theoretical and Applied Mechanics was held in Moscow. In 2001 in Perm, in 2006 and 2011 in Nizhny Novgorod, in 2015 in Kazan, the VIII, IX, X and XI All-Russian congresses on fundamental problems of theoretical and applied mechanics were held.
